Here are some tips on configuring CDex for the best performance. You can set these preferences any time you use CDex, but you only have to set them once. CDex will remember and use them until/unless you change them again. A good time to set them is just before step B-4, above.

  • The time needed to extract audio from a CD can be greatly reduced by disabling Jitter Correction. Jitter Correction is needed on older CD drives to prevent audio glitches (pops and crackling), but many newer CD drives no longer need this correction.
  • The extraction speed can also be improved by specifying the exact reading speed of your CD drive. Most newer CD drives can read at 52x or faster.
  • Another helpful option is to set CDex to automatically eject the CD when ripping has been completed. This allows you to do something else while ripping is in progress, and be alerted by the CD drive when it's time to continue with the next step in the Sermon Publisher.

AS-1. Open the CDex configuration dialog box.

(a) Just before you begin step B-4, above, open the Options menu and select Settings.

The CDex configuration dialog box is displayed.

Advanced Steps

Configuration Tips

Here are some advanced tips on configuring CDex for the best performance. These options are available under the CDex Options -> Settings -> CD Drive page:

https://www.sermonsonline.com/images/07CDExtract.png

  • The time needed to extract audio from a CD can be greatly reduced by disabling Jitter Correction. Jitter Correction is needed on older CD drives to prevent audio glitches (pops and crackling), but many newer CD drives no longer need this correction. To disable Jitter Correction, uncheck "Enable Jitter Correction".
  • The extraction speed can also be improved by entering the CD Reading Speed of your CD drive. Most newer CD drives can read at 52x or faster. Enter the actual speed of your CD drive in the "CD Speed" input field.
  • By checking the option to "Eject CD when ripping has been completed", you can do something else while ripping is being done, then be alerted by the CD drive when it's ready to continue on to the next step in the Sermon Publisher
